A ribbed and stippled copper 19th century Nigerian Igbo cuff bracelet with patterns and geometric designs.


Igbo woman commonly wore large cuffs as armlets or anklets as symbols of wealth and status, their material and size represented great prestige and exemption from physical labor. Due to their cumbersome weight and size, the wearer was unable to undertake normal domestic duties, thus furthering the image of idle leisure.

In great condition and flaunts a lovely old and used patina.
