A fantastic Elkington & Co wine coaster featuring highly detailed panels of cherubs in varied scenes.
Rare to find such a decorative wine coaster with figural decoration, it would have been originally silver-plated and even more elaborate than it already is but now just flaunts the copper base metal.
Elkington & Co crown mark along with model number 13377 to the base.
Dates from the mid to late 19th century as in 1898 the "crown" mark on silver-plated wears was no longer used when the Parliament forbade its use on silver-plate wares to prevent abuses and misunderstandings with the "crown" symbol of the Sheffield Assay Office (reserved to hallmarking sterling silver items).
In great condition with detailing still intact, minor signs of age with patination and black marks from production.
