An incredibly rare ribbon edged plate produced by Brown-Westhead, Moore & Co 1869.

The base a shallow curve hand painted with exquisite buttercups and insects on an ivory ground. The rim is formed by a waved band in imitation of a ribbon, coloured pink and edged with gilt, which is 'knotted' at intervals where it is attached to the plate.

There is an example with a lighter colour palette housed in the V&A's ceramics collection.

Diameter: 23 cm

In great condition with one small hairline crack and light surface wear.

Victorian registration lozenge mark to underside dating it to December 3rd 1869 - I have another decorated differently produced on the same day.
