A highly textured and vibrant still life oil painting on canvas of sunflowers in a vase by a window ledge captured by Danish artist Carl Mortensen.

Carl Laurits Nikolaj Mortensen (1861-1945) was both a painter and a sculptor, perhaps best known for his sculptural depictions of nude athletes. He also was skilled in porcelain and became part of the permanent staff at Royal Copenhagen. Mortensen received many awards during his years as an artist and was a co-founder of the Danish Sculptor Association.
