XXXL West German Fat Lava Glazed Carstens Vintage 1960s Pottery Floor Vase

A supersized modernist piece by the well known ceramic designers Gerda Heuckeroth and Heinz Siery for popular West German ceramic company Carstens Tönnieshof.

A very large and unusual shape of Carstens with a beautiful fat lava finish.

The rough surface of the vase is decorated with the characteristic Fat Lava technique, which is based on using a thick glaze with an appearance and structure similar to solidified lava.

A couple of chips to body and one to rim but overall in good condition.

Carsten's two-house mark and 7220/50 to base.

Stands 20" high, 10" across widest point of body, 6.5" across the rim, 7" base.
Weighs just over 4.5kg
