According to the label on the back, Vagn Gabriel was born 26 June 1931 in Slagels, Denmark and educated as a sign and decoration painter. He went through technical school in Copenhagen and further education in Paris. He travelled to France. Germany, Norway and Sweden to refine his craft and held separate exhibitions in France, Germany and Denmark. Gabriel became well received in the countries concerned, both by their audiences and critics. His style and approach has become recognizable, especially in regards the the urban motifs he captures in light, airy colours, which testify to a real ability to empathize with the motif he treats.
