Italian Renaissance Grotesque Mask & Cherubs Medici Brass Door Knocker

An impressive late 19th / turn of the 20th century door knocker with a grotesque mascaron whose tongue forms the pivot for the knocker comprised of two cherub putti holding the coat of arms of the Medici family of Florence. Similar door knockers to this were first produced in Italy during the Renaissance.

A fantastic statement piece in wonderful condition with expected surface wear, oxidization, and patination consistent with its age and outside exposure.

Will be sent with a new strike plate I bought in order to sell as a complete door knocker.
