Christopher Dresser Chinoiserie Antique Hexagon Teapot Watcombe Pottery Ceramic

A Watcombe terracotta polychrome ceramic teapot of double hexagonal form, seemingly modelled after Chinese Yixing teapots, but designed by Christopher Dresser c.1875 with dragon handle and spout and further chinoiserie detail to the body.

An identical teapot was sold at Christie's, South Kensington, Oct. 19, 2004, Lot 159 in The Harry Lyons Collection and also one in 'Live Auction 5782 - Decorative Arts' on 1 May 1997, lot 228.

With a glued repair to the lid and damage to spout.
