A Rare Minton majolica lattice bowl designed by French sculptor Albert-Ernest Carrier-Belleuse (1824-1887) with reticulated lattice decoration and impressive faun handles raised upon a scalloped based foot.
A wonderful and sought after piece of English Majolica, there is one of this model in the Metropolitan Museum New York and it also features as the main image for the Mintons Wikipedia entry.
Impressed Mintons mark and model number 1210, along with the date code for what appears to be 1881.
Displays tremendously but does have old restoration to the faun necks and there is also a small section of the lattice which has been repaired (view final photo) along with a few small hairline cracks.
L:27 cm - W: 17 cm - H: 16.5 cm
