Antique Japanese Meiji Satsuma Pottery Watano Trading Company Tray

AJapanese Meiji period c.1880 Satsuma earthenware tray with 3 character marks for the Watano Trading Company, a merchant exporter who lasted for three generations and was very famous during the Meiji period with offices in the port towns of Kobe and Yokohama.

It features an exquisite hand painted landscape scene of rural Japanese life with gilt detailing throughout and a patterned rim surround.

High quality Japanese pottery is rarely seen in the form of a tray, and I've not been able to find another quite like this one.
